5 Always be gentle with others. The Lord will soon be here. 6 Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. 7 Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.
I can say no better than Nouwen’s quote:
When God has become our Shepherd, our refuge, our fortress, when we can reach out to him in the midst of the broken world and feel at home while still on the way. When God swells in us, we can enter in a wordless dialogue with him while still waiting on the day that he will lead us into the house where he has prepared a place for us
And I thank God for that!
God invites you and me to reach out to him anew.
And the prayer from the book:
stretch out our perspective
so that it expands in your direction.
Remind us that we are not alone
and that you are with us
we ask you to extend your loving concern
to the whole of your earthly peoples,
to those who have had
no chance to know you and your Word directly.
Amen and Amen
That is what Christmas truly means
