Prayers on the Move App

Just briefly popping by to recommend the Prayers on the Move App.

I believe this is meant to be an ‘entry level’ introduction to prayer, but if, like me you have limited concentration or stamina, this is a great way to pray.  One sentence prayers, one a day, as easy as that.  There is even a reminder that you can set.

I found the “read aloud” option really helpful to still me and give the space – one minute.  Anyone can manage that! (Though as an aside, I know it’s a common technique used in praying, but not everyone can “Take a deep breath in” and I found that a bit off-putting)

Each prayer is beautifully illustrated, though I did wonder if that made it a bit ‘girly’?  Each prayer is also easily shared via social media, and the ones I have seem to have been well received.  As with any written prayer, some will mean more to you than others, but it’s a great start

There are also many links to other resources to take you further into prayer.

I’ve found this really helpful at a time I’ve needed it.

Wonderful Things

By Infrogmation of New Orleans (Photo by Infrogmation) [GFDL (http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/fdl.html)
I want to thank you Lord
for all the wonderful things
that you do,
for your love,
your care,
your hope,
your presence with me,
the splendour of your creation
and your presence
in the world.

I want to thank you
for all that you are,
for you majesty
and power,
your truth
and justice,
and your eternity.

It is so easy to moan
and grumble,
to complain
and winge,
but today
I step back
and I bring my thanks
and praise
to you.

Psalm 111

Psalm 111 (CEV)

Praise the Lord for All He Has Done

111 Shout praises to the Lord!
    With all my heart
I will thank the Lord
    when his people meet.
The Lord has done
    many wonderful things!
Everyone who is pleased
with God’s marvelous deeds
    will keep them in mind.
Everything the Lord does
    is glorious and majestic,
and his power to bring justice
    will never end.

The Lord God is famous
for his wonderful deeds,
and he is kind and merciful.
He gives food to his worshipers
    and always keeps his agreement
    with them.
He has shown his mighty power
    to his people
and has given them the lands
    of other nations.

God is always honest and fair,
and his laws can be trusted.
    They are true and right
    and will stand forever.
God rescued his people,
    and he will never break
his agreement with them.
    He is fearsome and holy.

10 Respect and obey the Lord!
This is the first step
    to wisdom and good sense.
    God will always be respected

A Helping Hand – Psalm 145:10-18

Psalm 145:10-18 (CEV)

10 All creation will thank you,
    and your loyal people
    will praise you.
11 They will tell about
    your marvelous kingdom
    and your power.
12 Then everyone will know about
    the mighty things you do
    and your glorious kingdom.
13 Your kingdom will never end,
    and you will rule forever.

Our Lord, you keep your word
    and do everything you say.
14 When someone stumbles or falls,
    you give a helping hand.
15 Everyone depends on you,
and when the time is right,
    you provide them with food.
16 By your own hand
    you satisfy
the desires of all who live.

17 Our Lord, everything you do
    is kind and thoughtful,
18     and you are near to everyone
    whose prayers are sincere.

Thank you Lord
for being my helping hand.

That when I fall,
you pick me up;
you feed me –
physically,
emotionally,
spiritually;
you meet my every need,
whether I am aware of it
or not.

Thank you Lord,
that you always walk near me
and are always watching out for me.

Thank you for the people
you use to do that with you,
May I in turn
be part of your work
in supporting others.
