Healing and Hope

God is healing,
hope,
peace,
life
and fruit.

God is never
war,
destruction,
extinguishing life,
crushing hope
or trampling dreams.

God brings healing
between nations,
within communities,
into hearts and lives.

That is what God is about.
never,
ever
an excuse to fight,
hate,
or crush,
but a bringer of hope and peace.

And that is my call
in his world,
my world
in him.

God of Grace and God of Glory

Revelation 22:1-5 (MSG)

22 1-5 Then the Angel showed me Water-of-Life River, crystal bright. It flowed from the Throne of God and the Lamb, right down the middle of the street. The Tree of Life was planted on each side of the River, producing twelve kinds of fruit, a ripe fruit each month. The leaves of the Tree are for healing the nations. Never again will anything be cursed. The Throne of God and of the Lamb is at the center. His servants will offer God service—worshiping, they’ll look on his face, their foreheads mirroring God. Never again will there be any night. No one will need lamplight or sunlight. The shining of God, the Master, is all the light anyone needs. And they will rule with him age after age after age.

Looking Lovingly

God,
above and beyond
everything else.
God of safety.
pf promise.
of hope;
you are our certainty,
our surety,
our foundation
and our steadfast rock.

You are a God of planting
a God who breaks weapons,
for there is no place for them
in your place of beauty and peace.

What we need is to stop,
listen to you,
take stock,
look at you
rather than the things we have deemed as important,
look at others,
people you have made
and love
as much as you love us

and then
consider how we might live
together for you
for your protection,
hope
and love
is for each and every one of us.
we need fight no one for it.

Our call
Is to bring your way of life here
– for everyone

Psalm 46

Psalm 46 (MSG)

A Song of the Sons of Korah

46 1-3 God is a safe place to hide,
ready to help when we need him.
We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom,
    courageous in seastorm and earthquake,
Before the rush and roar of oceans,
    the tremors that shift mountains.

Jacob-wrestling God fights for us,
    God-of-Angel-Armies protects us.

4-6 River fountains splash joy, cooling God’s city,
this sacred haunt of the Most High.
God lives here, the streets are safe,
God at your service from crack of dawn.
Godless nations rant and rave, kings and kingdoms threaten,
but Earth does anything he says.

Jacob-wrestling God fights for us,
    God-of-Angel-Armies protects us.

8-10 Attention, all! See the marvels of God!
He plants flowers and trees all over the earth,
Bans war from pole to pole,
breaks all the weapons across his knee.
“Step out of the traffic! Take a long,
loving look at me, your High God,
    above politics, above everything.”

11 Jacob-wrestling God fights for us,
    God-of-Angel-Armies protects us.

Weapons of Mass Peace

Do we want to make
peace or war?
Bring hope
or destruction?
Build for the future
or destroy all that’s past?

Shall I be a grower
or a killer?
A cultivator
or a destroyer?
A settler of disputes
or a creator of them?
Do I want my community to flourish
or to take everything away?
To feed
or to poison?

What tools will I use
in my life?

What is God
asking of me?
Which of my tools,
that I use as weapons.
does he want me to put down,
to turn into
something more useful,
to use for a good purpose
not bad.

Where is he asking me to make love
not war?

Where is he asking me
in my life
to turn Killing Fields
to Growing Fields?

Will I lay down arms
and pick up tools?

That we may live in peace

The Sunday before 11th November in the UK is Remembrance Sunday.  The true value of our remembering is how it changes our future actions.

What am I going to do to make the world a better place – starting with my corner of it? How will I live in peace?

Micah 4:1-8 (CEV)

Peace and Prosperity

In the future, the mountain
with the Lord’s temple
will be the highest of all.
It will reach above the hills,
and every nation
    will rush to it.
People of many nations
    will come and say,
“Let’s go up to the mountain
of the Lord God of Jacob
    and worship in his temple.”

The Lord will teach us his Law
from Jerusalem,
    and we will obey him.
He will settle arguments
between distant
    and powerful nations.
They will pound their swords
and their spears
    into rakes and shovels;
they will never again make war
    or attack one another.
Everyone will find rest
beneath their own fig trees
    or grape vines,
and they will live in peace.
This is a solemn promise
    of the Lord All-Powerful.

Others may follow their gods,
but we will always follow
    the Lord our God.

The Lord Will Lead His People Home

The Lord said:
At that time
    I will gather my people—
the lame and the outcasts,
and all into whose lives
    I have brought sorrow.
Then the lame and the outcasts
will belong to my people
    and become a strong nation.
I, the Lord, will rule them
    from Mount Zion forever.
Mount Zion in Jerusalem,
guardian of my people,
    you will rule again.
